The reaction of baking soda and vinegar is a good substitute for lava flows!
We are busy practicing for our spring program, the Agape league. All of 3rd and 4th grade are singing their hearts out and we have a number of soloists and actors from 3rd and 4th!
The show will be on Thursday night.
In 3rd and 4th Grade we are creating a magazine which theme is 3rd and 4th Grade 2015 - 2016. We have asked a number of people in school questions and will be including their interviews in our magazine. I will post examples of finish interview articles when they are done. This will be by the end of this week. Mr. T.
As part of our social studies learning, we have been talking about how you can invest money on the Stock Market. So that the children will understand how the stock market works, we will be playing the stock market simulation game - http://www.marketwatch.com/game/4th-grade-stock-market-lesson
We will have $100,000 to spend in stocks. The game will last until the last day of the school year. Children can decide which stocks to buy and we will see how much money they will make and if their investments were correct!
PS. I will be adding more information about how to sign up and play the game at home soon.
Spring Break is finally here! School is closed until Monday, April 4th.
Keep you child's learning going by looking at these things over Spring Break
3rd Grade are looking at fractions. Use this handy tool to make and compare different size fractions. This is directly from the UK elementary schools!
4th Grade have been looking at lines, rays, segments and angles. Here is a Youtube video that explains each one:
Do not forget Moby Max and also reading over Spring Break.
I wish you all a happy Holy week and Easter season! Mr. T
This week, 3rd and 4th grade will be thinking carefully about the 5th commandment. We will be thinking of ways to protect and respect human life and dignity.
On Tuesday, 3rd and 4th Grade will be participating in the sacrament of reconciliation at church. We will be going through the act of confession in class, but if you could also go though it with your child, that would be great!
After a couple of weeks drafting and researching, our research projects are ready to be typed up into Microsoft Publisher. We will be adding pictures to the pages to make them look like they are part of a non-fiction book! I will add examples as they are finished here.
You will be getting a letter tonight about how to sign up to Class Dojo to view your child's behavior progress. Please remember to sign up! Class Dojo is a powerful tool for monitoring class behavior (both positive and negative).
The rumor that Mr. T will be wrestling a crocodile on Wednesday may be slightly exaggerated, but we will be finding out all about reptiles on Wednesday from 1pm - 2pm.
Do you have any questions about reptiles? If so, be ready to ask them on Wednesday!
